Frequently Asked Question

Google Meet says my camera and microphone are blocked. How do I fix it?
Last Updated 3 years ago

This problem is caused by Google Chrome's privacy permissions. Every web page that needs access to your camera and microphone needs you to first give explicit permission. If you do not "allow" the web page access to this equipment, it will say that it is blocked. To reset these permissions and prompt Meet to ask you to allow these devices upon your next video call, follow these steps:

  1. Open Google Chrome.
  2. In the address bar type chrome://policy/.
  3. Click the "Reload policies" button.
  4. Restart Google Chrome.
  5. The next time that you join a Meet, click the "Allow" button in the windows that pop up.

If you still cannot hear or see yourself, try recording audio and video in a different web page. If that does not work, be sure to submit a Help Desk ticket so that we can get you back up and running.
